And we're off...! Manx Litfest 2018 gets underway this evening, with two events - Introduction to Bibliotherapy at Conrod's coffee shop in Ramsey (6.30pm start), followed by the Poetry Slam at Noa Bakehouse in Douglas (8.00pm start).
There are still spaces on the Bibliotherapy (just turn up), but the Poetry Slam is SOLD OUT.
Jackie Morrey-Grace (pictured, holding the cup) was Poetry Slam champ in 2017, and will be defending her title tonight. There are a few other former winners in the field - not to mention a few Manx Bards - and it promises to be another brilliant night of performance poetry at Noa.
As we've done in recent years, the winners (plus the teams who came second and third) of the Year 8 Schools Slam, held last week, to perform tonight. A team from Ramsey Grammar School won the title, with teams from Ballakermeen High School taking second and third.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), Litfest heads to Andreas - to St Andrew's Church - where we have two writing workshops during the day, and at night - Folk, with author Zoe Gilbert and The Bookshop Band. We still have some spaces on the workshops, and tickets are on sale for Folk - or, you can pay on the door.
The full schedule can be downloaded by clicking on '2018 Programme' on our home page.
