Elise Downing
Back in 2015, when she was just 23 years old, Elise Downing announced that she was going to attempt to run 5000 miles around the coast of Great Britain, carrying her kit on her back—which came as quite a surprise to everyone, including herself!
Ten months after setting out, she became the first woman and youngest person to run a lap of Great Britain self-supported. Elise’s first book, Coasting described in a review by Travel Writing World as “an inspiration” —is her account of the highs and lows of this amazing achievement.
We loved welcoming Elise to Manx Litfest 2023, and we are over the moon that she is joining us again, this year, for an event at Government House!
