Clare MacKintosh

Clare Mackintosh is an award-winning British author, who spent 12 years in the police force before leaving, in 2011, to become a full-time writer.

Her debut novel, I Let You Go, published in 2014, was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, and winner of the Theakston’s Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year, in 2016. The French translation also won Best International Novel at the Cognac Festival Prix du Polar awards.

Clare has published ten bestselling novels, in more than 40 languages, as well as a memoir called, I Promise It Won’t Always Hurt Like This, about the death of her baby son in 2006. She has also been a judge for the Costa Book Awards, and is the founder of the Chipping Norton Literary Festival.

Clare is patron of the Silver Star Society, which supports families undergoing difficult pregnancies.
